I had my first migraine attack in my early twenties. Nausea. Photophobia. Phonophobia. Shut me up in a cave and let. me. die. sleep. At first, it was always the day before my period. Not every month - but always the same timing if I was going to have one.
During my first pregnancy I had daily migraines starting around ten weeks pregnant until I quit my teaching job around fifteen weeks pregnant. The only way to stave one off was to get home and fall asleep (nap) before 4 p.m. My administration was unwilling to work with me (i.e. permit me to miss weekly faculty meetings for a month or so (migraine, for many women, resolves completely later on in pregnancy)) to help me reach that end. I was unable to function as a teacher or as a person having migraines at 4 p.m. every. day.
There is growing speculation that some of my more odd symptoms this winter were actually migraine attacks without the headache.
